A master study of Henri Fantin-Latour's 1891 floral painting (Delphinium). I was inspired by the warmth & softness of his painting, and wanted to honor the richness of his work while nodding to my own stylistically. I loosed & soften it up, but kept the romantic feeling of his original work.
A perfect year round floral – moody for fall & winter, with bright warmth for summer + spring.
Delphiniums are the birth flower for July & represent open heart, goodwill, and protection.
